Montmorillon - a delightful Roman town with a Wednesday morning market, 2 large supermarkets, crazy golf, tennis and an equestrian centre.

Chauvigny - 30 minutes - medieval town with the Chateau des Aigles (Les Géants du Ciel) where you can enjoy a display of eagles, owls, falcons, etc. Chauvigny also has a Saturday morning market.

Did we mention markets? Les Herolles is host to a traditional country market on 29th of every month. Said to be one of the largest in France, it has been held here for over 400 years, and is an event not to be missed.
The livestock market is under cover, with goats, sheep, horses, donkeys, cattle, poultry (often including rare breeds) and rabbits can be found.
You can also find just about everything - cheese, honey, truffles, fruits and nuts in season, tractors, kitchen knives and utensils, sewing materials, traditionally baked bread, dried sausages, wine and vegetables and all sorts of other local produce - plus plants, shrubs, trees and even agricultural equipment and garden tools.

La Vallée des Singes - a great favourite with guests and their children. It is a unique sanctuary where you are allowed to feed the monkeys on their own islands at feeding times. The monkeys climb on you to take the food.

L’île aux Serpents - at La Trimouille for reptile lovers.
